Notes for submitters
We welcome submissions from all interested parties on any aspect of the:

Hard copies of these documents can also be obtained on request.

Submissions are public information and may be the subject of requests under the Official Information Act 1982. If you consider that any or all of the information in your submission should be treated as confidential or commercially sensitive, please state this clearly in your submission. Any decision to withhold information under the Official Information Act may be reviewed by the Ombudsman.

Requirements for submissions
Submitters are asked to include the following information in their submissions:

  • the title of this discussion document;
  • your name and title;
  • your organisation’s name (if applicable);
  • your address and contact details (e.g. phone, fax and email); and
  • the number(s) of the Parts and Clauses you are commenting on.

A template is provided at the end of this document, for submitters to use.

Closing date for submissions
All submissions must be received by MAFBNZ no later than 5pm on Friday 27 November 2009.

Process following receipt of submissions

The next stage in the revision of the ELP will be to analyse all submissions and prepare the final ELP. A document summarising the submissions will be made public and distributed to each submitter. It is intended that the revised ELP live animals and germplasm will be issued 1 February 2010.

Implementation
Implementation will be staged according to Table 1 below.

Labs will operate under the previous standards until their accreditation/ surveillance audit date is due. By that date laboratories will develop procedures to meet specifications of the revised ELP, including applications for recognition of the laboratory and person(s).  
All labs must operate under the new ELP. from this date. 31 Jan 2011
