Proposed guidelines for the issue of animal welfare export certificates

MAF invites your comments on proposed guidelines for the issue of animal welfare export certificates (AWEC).

The Animal Welfare Act 1999 sets out the matters the Director-General of MAF must have regard to in considering an application for an AWEC. It also provides for the Director-General to publish guidelines for the issue of AWECs that will provide a useful tool for making clear expectations about the type and level of information required from applicants.

To date, no guidelines have been published however this a second round of consultation. To view the analysis of submissions from the first round of consultation visit:
