Propagable Forest Produce
Before importing seeds (for sowing), plants or cuttings into New Zealand you need to know the scientific name for the plant(s) you are interested in. This includes the genus and species.
You then need to refer to the Plants Biosecurity Index
to determine the quarantine level required for that species.
Plant species either unlisted or "prohibited" in the index can only be imported with the approval of the Environmental Risk Management Authority
of New Zealand.
Specific Import Health Standards
Below are some Import Health Standards which may be helpful:
- Seeds for sowing for approved Pinus species from all countries
- Seeds for sowing for approved Pseudotsuga menziesii from all countries
- Scion material for Pseudotsuga menziesii in relation to pine pitch canker and sudden oak death
