Overseas Market Access Requirements Notification - Animal Products Act 1999 - MAF Biosecurity New Zealand

1. Statutory authority

Pursuant to section 60 of the Animal Products Act 1999, I notify the following overseas market access requirements, entitled wallabies to Qatar.

This notice takes effect from date of signing.

2. Qatar Requirements

Wallabies exported from New Zealand to Qatar must comply with the import requirements of Qatar listed in this notice as follows:

2.1 An import permit is not required.

2.2 An official veterinarian of New Zealand must certify the following:

2.2.1 New Zealand is free from African horse sickness, African swine fever, anthrax, Aujeszky’s disease, bluetongue, bovine spongiform encephalopathy, Brucella abortus, Brucella melitensis, classical swine fever, contagious bovine pleuropneumonia, foot and mouth disease, lumpy skin disease, peste des petits ruminants, Q fever, rabies, Rift Valley fever, rinderpest, scrapie, screwworm, sheep and goat pox, swine vesicular disease, and vesicular stomatitis.

2.2.2 The wallabies are free from any visible genetic defects.

2.2.3 The animals were tested for bovine tuberculosis and gave a negative result to an approved tuberculin test within 30 days prior to the scheduled date of export. Type of test used. Date of test.

2.2.4 The animals were inspected within 48 hours of the scheduled time of departure and found to free of clinical signs of infectious disease and fit to travel.

2.3 Each animal must be identified individually.

3. Definitions

For the purposes of this document:

Any term or expression that is defined in the Animal Products Act 1999 and used, but not defined in this document, has the same meaning as in this Act.

Explanatory note

This OMAR is based on the requirements provided in the export certificate wallabies to Qatar dated 3 May 2005 which was drafted on conditions received on the 20 April 2004 from Dr Kassim n. Al Qahtani, Assistant Director, Animal Health Affairs, Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, Agricultural Development Department.
