Forest Products Export Standards - Phytosanitary Requirements of Brazil

  • 0.5 hours: 42 g/m3,

At temperature of 11°C or more:
64g/m3 for at least 16 hours with minimum concentrations:
  • 0.5 hours: 48 g/m3,

Wood/ Timber - Sawn

Import Permits or Declarations Import permit NOT required for kiln dried or preservative treated timber or for mouldings, including profiled flooring. A declaration is required from the treatment supplier for kiln dried timber. Requirements for the declaration can be found in Annex II of Instrucao Normativa No. 5 Link to PDF document (180 KB).
An approximate translation of these requirements follows:
The declaration must be issued by the company that performed the treatment and must include:
  • The name, address and telephone number of the company that performed the treatment;
  • The name and signature of the authorised company technician who performed the treatment, with appropriate registration number and grade advice;
  • The name, address and telephone number of the exporting company;
  • The name and signature of the owner of the exporting company;
  • Reports issued by the treatment equipment used;
  • Date and place of issue of this declaration;
  • Identification number of the treated lot;
The declaration must contain the following text:
“The (product) commenced the process of kiln drying on (date of commencement) and remained for (duration of treatment) in a closed chamber with controlled atmosphere, and reached (% final moisture content) moisture content.”
The above declaration is not required for timber that is fumigated or heat treated and issued with a phytosanitary certificate. It is not an additional declaration and cannot be made on a phytosanitary certificate.

Certification Requirements Wood packaging material and dunnage should be marked in accordance with ISPM 15.
Phytosanitary certificate or treatment certificate accepted in lieu of ISPM 15.

Bark Wood packaging material and dunnage must be made of debarked wood in accordance with ISPM 15.
