In addition to exemptions stated in clause 2.1 of ISPM 15, the following is also exempt:

  • Wood packaging material that has been painted or stained;
  • Wood packaging material that has been treated by tar or other preservatives;
  • Wood packaging material that is used to carry deep frozen commodities (below -17.8 degrees Celsius), and remaining below this temperature until arrival.
General Wood packaging material which does not comply shall be treated in accordance with ISPM 15 or destroyed or reshipped with the imported commodity on importer’s request.
