FAQs about Animal Exports

What is an OMAR?

The Overseas Market Access Requirements (OMAR) are the public access versions of the export certificates and outline overseas country requirements for the animal and animal germplasm (semen and embryos).

What animals cannot be exported?

New Zealand is party to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). Some animals listed in Schedule 1 of this convention can still be exported, but this requires a certificate from the Department of Conservation.
