Queenly outing for biosecurity message

Miss Meat Packer, Miss Poison Ivy and Miss Forbidden Fruit brought home the biosecurity message at Auckland's Big Gay Out on 11 February at Coyle Park in Point Chevalier. MAF Quarantine Service has attended this event for the last four years.
The three drag queens handed out bananas and postcards reminding festival goers not to bring fruit or other biosecurity risk items into New Zealand.
This event is the biggest for the country's gay, lesbian, bisexual, takataapui and transgender communities.
MAF will be attending other events to spread the biosecurity message to specific groups who can do their bit to help keep out exotic pests and diseases. These include Pet Expo (animal import/export requirements), Chinese Lantern Festival (border requirements), Migrant Expo (border requirements), Secondary Schools Rowing Champs (Check, Clean, Dry) and the Agricultural Fieldays (whole of MAF).
