New Farm Forestry Association website on forest pests and diseases

The Farm Forestry Association has built a new website with assistance from the MAF Sustainable Farming Fund and Scion. The site is a searchable and user-friendly information resource of the pests and diseases encountered in New Zealand’s forests.

Users can enter keywords into the search engine, or choose from a range of entry points to track down what interests them. Links to information about pests and diseases are listed alphabetically and also categorised by tree species. Pests and diseases of timber are also included, along with a section on new and unwanted forestry pests and diseases.

It is hoped that by providing information that is easily accessed, people will become better informed and aware of forest health issues.

Designed to be useful for both the layperson and experts, the information has been compiled from the complete archive of Scion’s forest health newsletters, along with the forest entomology and pathology leaflet series.
