It is important that before a code is recommended to the Minister that public consultation is undertaken to ensure the range of views held within the community is taken into account.
All codes are advertised in major newspapers and are shown on the website when they are open for public consultation. There are currently no codes of welfare open for consultation.
Codes of welfare being worked on:
- Goats – has been recommended to the Minister
- Meat Chickens – has been recommended to the Minister
- Layer Hens – submissions are currently being considered
- Llamas and Alpacas – submissions are currently being considered
- Rodeos - this code is due to be reissued in 2013 and a review of the code is now underway
- Temporary housing (including boarding establishments) - under development
- Equine – under development
