Animal Welfare (Broiler Chickens: Fully Housed) Code of Welfare 2003

The Animal Welfare Act 1999 (the Act) imposes obligations on every person who owns or is in charge of broiler chickens. This code has been issued pursuant to section 75 of the Act and will provide guidance on how to comply with the legislative requirements. However, this code does not provide an exhaustive list of the Act's requirements, and owners and those in charge of broiler chickens should note that they must comply with the minimum standards in this code and the general provisions in the Act.
