Cut Flowers and Foliage to the United States of America

The Cut Flower and Foliage to the United States Compliance Programme Link to PDF document (268 KB) has been created and approved by the USDA to defines the process by which cutflowers and foliage destined for USA must be produced, traceable, found eligible and able to be verified for MAF phytosanitary certification.

Cut flowers and foliage intended for export to USA must meet the certification requirements negotiated by MAF Biosecurity New Zealand (MAFBNZ) with the USDA regarding phytosanitary inspection and freedom from light brown apple moth Epiphyas postvittana.

The Compliance Programme is documented to ensure there is clarity between participants on what activities are required to be implemented to meet the export requirements.

The Compliance Programme is a generic document designed to work in unison with specific crop pest management programmes.

Objective

Provision of accurate MAF phytosanitary certification with an Additional declaration concerning inspection and freedom from light brown apple moth (LBAM) Epiphyas postvittana for cutflowers and foliage for export to USA.

Grower Register

Once the production site has passed plant residue testing, the production site will be issued with a unique MAFBNZ production site code and the sites details will be placed on the register.

All Packhouse/Storage facilities, freight forwarders and exporters must register into the programme and allocated a unique MAFBNZ identification code.

This unique code is to be used for traceability and eligibility purposes when exporting cut flowers and foliage to USA.
