Scope

This standard specifies Brunei's phytosanitary requirements for the stated commodities and commodity classes only. If a commodity or commodity group is not identified within Commodity Class Requirements or Commodity Specific Requirements exporters should contact:

• Brunei directly to ascertain requirements refer Phytosanitary Import Permits

or

• Biosecurity New Zealand (Exports). Please note, the determination of phytosanitary requirements is undertaken on a cost recovery basis

Phytosanitary Legislation

The following legislation controls the importation of plants and plant materials into Brunei:

• Chapter 43, Agricultural Pests and Noxious Plants Act of 1 August 1971, Revised Edition 1984

General Requirements

Prohibitions

No commodities are specifically prohibited entry from New Zealand

Phytosanitary Import Permits

Phytosanitary Import Permits state the phytosanitary requirements for importation

Phytosanitary Import Permits are required for the importation of the following Commodity Classes:

• fruit and vegetables
• cut flowers and foliage
• nursery stock
• seed (grain)/nuts
• growing media/packing material

Phytosanitary Certificates

Phytosanitary certificates are required to accompany all consignments of plants and plant products imported from New Zealand.

Quarantine Pests

Brunei does not maintain a list of quarantine pests. Refer Maximum Pest Limits

Maximum Pest Limits (MPLs)

For all commodities exported to Brunei requiring phytosanitary certificates, the MPL's are:

Quarantine pests* specified by Brunei	0.5%
Soil	25g/600unit

*Quarantine pests for Brunei include organisms identified within:

• Quarantine Pests of this standard
• Additional declarations
• Phytosanitary import permit

Note: Where an importing country does not specify any quarantine pests within the above, the MPL of 5% is to be applied for all injurious pests. Refer Section 2.2.1 of Phytosanitary Inspection.

Ports of Entry

Commodity classes are not restricted to entry via specified ports

Inspection on Arrival

All consignments of imported plant material are subject to inspection by Brunei authorities for phytosanitary purposes on arrival
