Prioritisation of requests
Requests for the development of new import health standards go through an annual prioritisation process, which occurs near the beginning of the calendar year for the following work year (June – May).
Requests for the development of new import health standards are prioritised to determine which requests will be included on the work programme. Requests are prioritised on five criteria:
- Technical
- Net benefit
- Strategic
- Acceptability
- Practicality
The prioritisation process is further explained under the Import Health Standard Funding and Management System.
Requests that were not prioritised highly enough to make it on the last work program, or that have been lodged since then, must be reconfirmed in order to be considered for the next prioritisation round. The opportunity may also be taken to revise an application.
