Importing Micro-Organisms, Micro-Biologicals and Laboratory Specimens

Each request to import micro-organisms, micro-biologicals and laboratory specimens is assessed on a case by case basis.

Import Health Standard

Approved Tuber spp.(truffles) for inoculation can be imported under the standard PIT-IMP-TUBER Importation into New Zealand of specified fresh and frozen Tuber species (truffles).

Import Permit

To import micro-organisms, micro-biologicals and laboratory specimens for commercial or laboratory purposes, a valid import permit is required.

To apply for a permit, complete the appropriate Application for Permit to Import.

The completed form should be returned to MPI Plant Imports, where requirements will be checked before an import permit is issued. Allow 10 working days for processing.
