New code of welfare for animal transport released - 15 September 2011

Minimum standards of animal welfare and recommended best practices for everyone involved in transporting animals in New Zealand are outlined in a new code of welfare issued today by Agriculture Minister David Carter.

Anyone who is organising or is responsible for animals being transported must be aware of the following codes of welfare and comply with the minimum standards in the codes and the general provision

Feedback sought on draft code of welfare for layer hens - 8 February 2011

The National Animal Welfare Advisory Committee (NAWAC) has completed a review of the Animal Welfare (Layer Hens) Code of Welfare 2005 and a draft code has been released today for public consultation.

New code of welfare for pigs released - 1 December 2010

The Animal Welfare (Pigs) Code of Welfare 2010, released today by the Minister of Agriculture, encourages all those responsible for pigs to adopt the highest standards of husbandry, care and handling.
