Common Name: Seed Potato
Conditions: Phytosanitary import permit required. Phytosanitary certificate required.
Additional Declaration:
“Seed potatoes were produced in land known not to be infested with and are free from:
Synchytrium endobioticum, Globodera rostochiensis, Globodera pallida, Meloidogyne chitwoodii, Meloidogyne fallax, Ditylenchus destructor, Ditylenchus dipsaci, Thecaphora/Angiosorus solani”
And
“Seed potatoes are free from Clavibacter michiganensis spp. sepedonicus, Ralstonia solanacearum, Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd) and Tomato stolbur”
And
“The seed potatoes have been treated with the following chemicals”. (list chemicals on an official label or statement or as an additional label and attach to the outside and inside of each container)

Seed potatoes
Conditions:
- An import permit and phytosanitary certificate is required to import seed potato to the Falkland Islands.
- Seed potatoes must be classified as pre-basic, basic or certified in their country of origin (refer to table in No.5) in accordance with UNECE Standard S1.
- Particulars to be stated on the official label (unused, tear resistant and identifying each category of seed potatoes individually) on the outside of each container (in new bags if packed in units of 50kg or less; in excess of 50kg bags may be pre-used but cleaned);
- Nature of the contents: “Seed potatoes”
- Certification authority or its recognised initials
- Country and/or region of production
- Reference number of the lot, including the producers identification number
- Month and year of closing
- Variety
- Category and class
- Size
- Declared net weight
- An official statement must be placed inside each container with details of; Certification authority or its recognised initials; Reference number of the lot, including the producer’s identification number and Variety
- New Zealand seed potatoes certification system is comparable to the UNECE/UK classification as outlined below (refer to point 2);

Seed potatoes must comply with minimum standards for defects.
Maximum limits (% by weight) for incidence of defects in seed potatoes of Pre-Basic, basic and certified categories imported and marketed in the Falkland Islands.

This standard specifies the Falkland Island’s phytosanitary requirements for the stated commodities and commodity classes only. If a commodity class is not listed under Section 3 or Section 4 exporters should contact:
- Falkland Islands directly to ascertain requirements refer Falkland Islands Government
or
- MAF Biosecurity New Zealand (Plant Exports) (MAFBNZ). Please note the determination of phytosanitary requirements is undertaken on a cost recovery basis
Users of this document are strongly advised to review all sections of the ICPR for the determination of a commodity's phytosanitary requirements.

The following Regulations govern the import of seed potatoes into the Falkland Islands;

Phytosanitary Import Permits
Phytosanitary import permits are required for seed potatoes. The import permit must be applied for by the importer in the Falkland Islands prior to the shipment being allowed entry into the Falkland Islands.
The following permit controls the importation of seed potatoes into the Falkland Islands:
i) Conditions for the Import and Marketing of Seed Potatoes in the Falkland Islands (Import Permit), Falkland Islands Department of Agriculture, May 2008.
