Transitional and containment facilities

Goods, sea containers and air containers arriving in New Zealand must first go to a facility approved by MPI. Transitional, containment and quarantine facilities have different roles and must meet certain requirements to operate.

MPI SERVICES UP TO 20 JANUARY 2020

After 27 November 2019, applications for new and existing transitional and containment facilities and facility operators will take longer than the normal 6 weeks to process. This is because of Christmas and New Year holidays. Services will return to normal on 20 January 2020.

Note: If you have containers arriving between 28 November 2019 and 19 January 2020, we recommend you make alternative arrangements.
