Seeds for sowing

Seeds for sowing – including seed in growing kits or pellets, or lab specimens – need to meet biosecurity requirements to prevent the entry of unwanted organisms into New Zealand. MPI helps importers to meet these requirements.

Importer responsibilities

Importers are among the most important people in defending against biosecurity risks. New pests and diseases can not only impact on human health, but also damage agricultural or horticultural production, forestry, and tourism, and affect trade in international markets.
