Offshore plant quarantine facilities

A list of all offshore facilities MPI has approved to the Accreditation of Offshore Plant Quarantine Facilities and Operators standard, which have an agreement with MPI to hold and test material for specified regulated pests.

MPI approves offshore facilities to undertake some (or all) of the quarantine and testing requirements which otherwise need to be done onshore in post entry quarantine (PEQ) in New Zealand. This may mean importers can bring plant germplasm into a lower level of PEQ in New Zealand for a shorter period, and usually means importers have access to new plant germplasm more quickly and at lower cost.

MPI-approved offshore facilities are approved to the MPI standard 'Accreditation of Offshore Plant Quarantine Facilities and Operators'.

The accreditation of offshore facilities is cost-recovered by MPI and requests are prioritised as part of the yearly work programme prioritisation. To request the accreditation of a new offshore facility, you'll need to complete the appropriate request form.
