Two different types of fruit flies were discovered in 3 separate areas of Auckland between February and July 2019.
Queensland fruit fly
Male flies were found in surveillance traps in Northcote between February and July 2019.
Movement controls are in place for an area of Northcote. The latest male fruit fly was caught in a surveillance trap on 15 July.
A single male fly was found in a surveillance trap in Devonport on 14 February 2019. Trapping found no further flies and restrictions on moving and selling fruit and vegetables were lifted on 22 March 2019.
An enhanced trapping network will continue in Devonport for an extended period as a precautionary measure.

Bactrocera facialis fruit fly
Male flies were found in surveillance traps in Ōtara between 18 February and 5 March 2019. Trapping found no further flies. Restrictions on moving and selling fruit and vegetables were lifted on 22 March 2019.
